Must been a while since the last time I’ve done some flyers. In a flyers design you really must know what you want to point out there. Some times there is only need for one small piece of information that needs to be pointed out big time, and other times you have so much info and data that you need to pack together in one small flyer.
So, what is flyer anyway? That piece of paper you get when you walk down the street and someone sticks it into your hand saying: “Here you go…”?? You don’t even know what it’s all about – but you get it, and read the stuff on that cheapest paper possible, and kick it in nearest trash can.
So, why are people still using this way of advertising? Well one thing is for sure: advertisers know for good that information they have to share will come back down to you – directly.
Anyway, in the sea of flyers you have seen, we’ll try to give you some hint’s what to do when designing them, on what to pay attention, and some other neat tips.

The formats of Flyer
First of all you might want to do just that, define a format of your flyer. Most common size would be A6 sized flyer or (105×148 mm). But the important fact is, there is no really defined size that you must stick on.
Preferably you must choose your size based on the information and picture you want to send with it. For example, if you are working a flyer for some music event, it’s sure you will not make it big sized, because you want it to fit in every pocket, right?
On the other hand if you are designing a flyer for medical seminar, you will make it enough sized to fit all the data, like when is the event, all the schedules, map to the place and such stuff.

Colors used
Choose colors you will use on the flyer very wisely. In the flyer design business, you must be aware of fact that in most cases they will be printed in large quantities. That means directly that you want to cut the expenses in start. So, use 1 or 2 colors preferably, but 4 color designs are not excluded. Just remember to keep it simple. Simplest stuff is always the best ones.

Logos
You will probably put some sponsor logos on that flyer, so be careful when you are putting them together, every logo must have enough white space around them. You must let the logos to have their clean breath, without interfering them with other ones.
Also, most important thing is, always try to use and get good quality logos in vector format, and don’t ruin the design with low quality gif format logos downloaded from a website. A good place to start when looking for some logos is BrandsOfTheWorld.

Paper type
Choose the right producing process for your flyer design. A good flyer would be printed on some nice paper, like something you will feel under your fingers. Try to connect a paper with the type of event or product you are advertising. If it’s the hard rock concert go with the some hard paper, preferably recycled, with hard rough surface, might be also colorized paper…

Finishing
For the finishing process, try to leave the flyer in one piece. Don’t fold them as they are becoming brochure then. But in the cases where format of flyer is really big or too long on one side and short on another, you can fold them.
Use some varnish effect as final touch to some parts of layer, like put the varnish on the most important part to exclude it from other stuff and put it in front plan.
